**THE BEST NORWEGIAN ELKHOUNDS REMAINING IN NORTH AMERICA

ARE MAKING A SIGNIFICANT COMEBACK IN TEXAS**

The Historic Riatta × Moki Litter — A Decade in the Making

There are moments in a restoration program where everything comes full circle — where the past, the present, and the future all converge in one place. For us, that place right now is Texas. The great state of Texas, specifically the Houston region, is home to three of the most important Norwegian Elkhounds remaining in North America: Riatta, Ari, and Rush. And now, joining them, transported all the way from New York State, is Moki, the big dark son of Jaegar and Gaeda — one of the most genetically valuable working-line males alive today.

This is not just another planned litter. This is a historic event.

Because over a decade ago, the story that leads to this moment began with a young stud dog stepping off a plane in a snowstorm.

When Pretty Boy Leif Flew North — The Beginning of a New Era

Well over ten years ago, a young male named Kamia’s Pretty Boy Leif boarded a plane in Houston, Texas and flew north into the frozen mountains of British Columbia. He arrived in a full winter storm — snow blowing sideways, the mountains socked in, the yard full of Kamia females watching him through the fence.

I’ll never forget the moment I opened the gate and let him in with Tuva and Tekla. He stopped. He looked at me. And in that instant, he knew I had just changed his life forever.

He owed me big time after that — and he paid that debt back a hundred times over.

Leif was brought in for one purpose: to preserve the ancient female genetics in our dynasty lines.

He was an outcross — a Performance Show male — brought into a world of exclusive ancient working-line females. He blended two worlds that had been separated for generations. And he did it flawlessly.

Today, his daughter Riatta carries that mission forward.

Riatta — The Daughter Who Carries the Torch

Riatta is one of the finest Norwegian Elkhound females anywhere in North America. She carries:

  • the ancient working architecture from her maternal side
  • the performance structure and refinement from Leif
  • the stability, intelligence, and instinct that define our program

She is the perfect representation of what we set out to build when Leif arrived all those years ago.

And now, she is about to be paired with one of the oldest, most intact working genetic lines in the world. Renee has done an incredible job raising and keeping Riatta in top shape in Texas and Amy, over in New York state has also done the same with Moki for the last seven years. They both are highly involved in the restoration of the Norwegian Elkhound working lineages and both of them will go down as stewards and restoration experts for their efforts in this.

Moki — The Dark Son of Jaegar and Gaeda

Moki is a powerhouse. A big, dark, old-world male with the deep working architecture of:

  • Jaegar — one of the most influential Kamia males ever
  • Gaeda — one of the most genetically important ancient-line females in North America

Moki represents the oldest known working-line genetics still functioning in the breed today. His instincts, structure, and temperament are the product of generations of mature, terrain-proven dogs.

Bringing him to Texas is not just a breeding decision — it is a strategic restoration move.

Texas Becomes the Center of the Comeback

It’s fitting that Texas is where this is happening.

Texas is where Leif began his journey. Texas is where Riatta, Ari, and Rush live today. Texas is where Moki has now arrived to complete a genetic circle that began over a decade ago.

This litter will be:

  • one of the most genetically significant in North America
  • a fusion of ancient working lines and proven performance lines
  • a direct continuation of the Leif legacy
  • a reinforcement of the Gaeda–Jaegar architecture
  • a cornerstone for the next decade of restoration work

This is not just a comeback — it is a re-emergence of the true Norwegian Elkhound.

Why This Litter Matters So Much

This pairing brings together:

  • the ancient Kamia female dynasty
  • the oldest working-line male genetics
  • the performance refinement from Leif
  • the terrain intelligence from Gaeda
  • the structural power from Jaegar
  • the stability and maturity of Riatta

It is the exact combination we envisioned when Leif first stepped off that plane into the snow.

We are now seeing the long-term plan unfold exactly as designed.

A Personal Note — Leif’s Legacy Lives On

Leif was my best pal. There’s no other way to say it.

He came from Texas, walked into a yard full of ancient-line females, and never looked back. He worked, he contributed, he stabilized, and he left a mark on this breed that will last for generations.

His daughter Riatta is now carrying that legacy forward. And with Moki arriving in Texas, the next chapter begins.

This litter is not just genetics. It is history. It is continuity. It is the architecture of maturity coming full circle.

And it is happening right now, in Texas.
