We have a tremendous announcement for the Swedish Elkhound enthusiasts across Canada and North America. Our Full Jamthund pair, Aurella and Posso, connected on June 11th, and we are now counting down the 63 days to what will be one of the most significant Swedish Elkhound litters whelped on Canadian soil in decades.
This is a heritage-level pairing, a continuation of the ancient Norrland working lineage that we have been carefully stewarding through our Full Blood and Jamthund programs. Both Aurella and Posso represent the deep, stable, mountain‑bred architecture that defines the true Swedish Elkhound—dogs built for real work, real terrain, and real partnership.

Why This Litter Matters
This is not a cosmetic breeding. This is a restoration‑aligned, function‑first Jamthund pairing that preserves the old northern traits:
- Massive stamina and cold‑weather resilience
- High cognitive stability—the calm, thinking dog that works with you, not against you
- True pack social structure—the hallmark of the old Scandinavian lines
- Long‑range tracking and situational awareness
- Deep maternal and paternal lineage continuity
We are talking about a genetic line that has changed only a handful of alleles in twenty years. That is unheard of in North America today.

Aurella – The Mountain Female With the Old Scandinavian Mind
Aurella is one of the most complete Jamthund females we have ever worked with. She carries the classic Swedish maternal architecture—steady, intelligent, highly bonded, and exceptionally aware of her environment. Her previous pups have shown:
- Early scenting ability
- High social intelligence
- Strong maternal and paternal mimicry
- Excellent cold‑weather performance
Her daughter Vada, living and working in Northern Saskatchewan with Lindsay and Blair, is a perfect example of the Aurella influence—balanced, capable, and deeply connected to her people.
Posso – The Full Jamthund Male With the Old‑Male Framework
Posso is a powerhouse male with the true Jamthund phenotype—broad chest, deep lungs, strong gait, and the old‑world temperament that is disappearing globally. He is one of the most influential males in our Swedish program, and his pups consistently show:
- High cognitive clarity
- Strong pack integration
- Excellent long‑range movement
- Calm, confident decision‑making
Posso’s sons and daughters are working, hiking, and living across Canada and the northern U.S., and every one of them carries that unmistakable Jamthund presence.

A Historic Canadian Litter
This upcoming litter is not just another breeding—it is a continuation of the Scandinavian working legacy, brought forward intact into the Canadian landscape. These pups will be:
- Full Jamthunds
- Canadian‑whelped
- Direct descendants of the ancient Norrland architecture
- Raised in the Kamia Pack System, which is unmatched in North America
For families, hunters, trackers, and northern‑terrain enthusiasts looking for a true working Swedish Elkhound, this is the litter to watch.

Timeline
- Hookup: June 11, 2026
- Gestation: 63 days
- Expected Whelping: Mid‑August 2026
- Placement: Fall 2026
We will post updates as Aurella progresses, including ultrasound confirmation, maternal development notes, and early‑stage pack integration.
A New Chapter for the Swedish Elkhound in Canada
This litter represents everything we stand for at Kamia—heritage, function, temperament, and the preservation of ancient northern working dogs. Aurella and Posso are two of the finest Jamthunds in North America, and their pups will carry forward a lineage that is both rare and critically important.
More updates coming soon as we move through the next 63 days.
