The great state of Texas, specifically the Houston region, is home to three of the most important Norwegian Elkhounds remaining in North America: Riatta, Ari, and Rush. And now, joining them, transported all the way from New York State, is Moki, the big dark son of Jaegar and Gaeda — one of the most genetically valuable working-line males alive today.

This is not just another planned litter. This is a historic event.

Because over a decade ago, the story that leads to this moment began with a young stud dog stepping off a plane in a snowstorm.

When Pretty Boy Leif Flew North — The Beginning of a New Era

Well over ten years ago, a young male named Kamia’s Pretty Boy Leif boarded a plane in Houston, Texas and flew north into the frozen mountains of British Columbia. He arrived in a full winter storm — snow blowing sideways, the mountains socked in, the yard full of Kamia females watching him through the fence.

I’ll never forget the moment I opened the gate and let him in with Tuva and Tekla. He stopped. He looked at me. And in that instant, he knew I had just changed his life forever.

He owed me big time after that — and he paid that debt back a hundred times over.

Leif was brought in for one purpose: to preserve the ancient female genetics in our dynasty lines.

He was an outcross — a Performance Show male — brought into a world of exclusive ancient working-line females. He blended two worlds that had been separated for generations. And he did it flawlessly.

Today, his daughter Riatta carries that mission forward.

Riatta — The Daughter Who Carries the Torch

Riatta is one of the finest Norwegian Elkhound females anywhere in North America. She carries:

Renee has done an incredible job raising and keeping Riatta in top shape in Texas and Amy, over in New York state has also done the same with Moki for the last seven years. They both are highly involved in the restoration of the Norwegian Elkhound working lineages and both of them will go down as stewards and restoration experts for their efforts in this.

Moki is a powerhouse. A big, dark, old-world male with the deep working architecture of:

• Jaegar — one of the most influential Kamia males ever
• Gaeda — one of the most genetically important ancient-line females in North America
