Down in Seabrook, TX, two phenomenal Elkhounds — Moki and Riatta — are together now, and the upcoming litter represents a major milestone in the ongoing restoration of the ancient working lineage.

You’ll see a short video clip here of Moki and Riatta sitting in the grass, relaxed, confident, and fully at home with each other. He is a big, dark, classic Norrland-type Norwegian Elkhound — the type you simply do not find anymore in mainstream breeding. His lineage traces directly to the old working families, and his structure, stamina, and temperament are exactly what preservation breeding requires.

He is a son of Jaegar and GAEDA, two of the most important dogs in the Kamia preservation framework. Moki carries the depth, the old-world architecture, and the genetic stability that makes him one of the premier males available in North America today.

Riatta — The Texas Preservation Female

Riatta is one of the most genetically valuable Norwegian Elkhound females in the USA. She carries the ancient Kamia female lineage — the dynasty that traces back through the old mountain-working females of British Columbia.

Her sire, Pretty Boy Leif, remains one of the most influential outcross males ever used in the Kamia program. Over a decade ago, Leif boarded a plane in Houston, Texas, and flew north into the frozen mountains of BC to begin his life’s work: preserving the ancient female genetics that were disappearing across North America.

Today, his daughter Riatta continues that mission.

Why This Litter Matters

This Moki × Riatta pairing is not just a breeding — it is a preservation event.

Both dogs carry non‑cosmetic, non‑show‑ring, working genetics

Both represent rare, stable, old-world Norwegian Elkhound architecture

Both are part of the Kamia Restoration Framework, designed to rebuild the true Elkhound

Both bring temperament, stamina, structure, and longevity that modern lines no longer hold

This litter will be one of the strongest Norwegian Elkhound litters produced in the USA in decades — a direct continuation of the preservation work started with Leif, carried through the Kamia dynasty females, and now extended into Texas.

Jaegar preservation of Norwegian Elkhounds

Mating Timeline

Moki arrived in Texas recently and settled in immediately.
