Ark — The Restoration Link

Ark is more than a Jämthund, more than a working dog, and more than a sire. He is a foundational genetic and behavioral link in the Kamia Kennels restoration architecture, connecting the preservation of the Swedish Jämthund with the rebuilding of the Full Blood Elkhound and the long-term return of Norwegian and Swedish working-dog lineages.

Born in Canada to Finnish imports Aina and Rico, Ark represents an important chapter in establishing the North American Jämthund population. His greater significance, however, lies in the role his line plays within a much larger, multigenerational restoration effort.

The Restoration Pathway

The Kamia restoration architecture connects several stages of preservation and restoration. Ark is an important link within this system, working alongside other foundation dogs and bloodlines to help rebuild the northern working Elkhound.

Ark and Varella → Full Blood Elkhound development → Norwegian Return and Swedish (Jämthund) Return

This is a simplified overview of the restoration pathway, not a single direct pedigree. Each stage involves other foundation dogs, carefully planned pairings, and multiple generations.

Ark and Varella — A Foundation Pair

Ark’s partnership with Varella, the Finnish-imported Jämthund female affectionately known as Ella, is central to this story. Their pairing brought together two dogs with Finnish working heritage and produced Aurella, their daughter and an important continuation of the line.

Their significance extends beyond producing a litter. Ark and Varella represent an important foundation pairing within the broader restoration plan, with their descendants contributing to the next stages of the program.

Follow Ark’s Family

Ark’s legacy can be followed through individual dogs and the roles they play in the developing restoration architecture.

These dogs represent different branches and generations of the wider program. Their individual stories help readers understand how the architecture develops through actual dogs, planned pairings, documented ancestry, and ongoing evaluation.

One Dog, Part of a Much Larger Restoration

Ark’s story is inseparable from the larger mission: to rebuild and sustain the northern working Elkhound through genetic diversity, functional selection, and long-term stewardship.

He is a Jämthund by origin, a foundation sire by role, and a restoration link by significance. His contribution is carried forward by his descendants and by the other foundation dogs whose lines converge within the Kamia architecture.

Ark is not the whole restoration. He is one of the important links that makes the restoration possible.
